14 March 2003 Images

12 April 2003:  Click on a thumbnail for a full size version.  These are smaller images than in previous recent posts, file sizes as shown.  There's no particular order.  Many thanks to Ralph Therien (standing on the wing in images 20, 21 and 22) who captured these images during a recent visit.

Just modest efforts since the 20 September 2002 images page as follows:

I've made a bit of progress on a permanent water connection and well power restructuring.  Details are on the 12 April 2003 images page, so go there if you're interested.

The transmission in my old clothes washer died, so rather than waste time resurrecting it, I installed a polyethylene cold water line from the aircraft's titanium water tank to a newer washer located opposite the rear galley.  Now I wash my clothes there - I'm the proud owner of a Boeing 727 laundromat.  The connection to the aircraft's water service port is just temporary, via a garden hose, until I finish the work described above.  But the polyethylene water line is intended to be permanent, although, like almost everything else in the aircraft, it could be rather easily modified since it routes behind or under panels that are very easily popped off for easy access.

All this is pretty modest progress.  The vast majority of my time has been spent on Hypatia product design updates and material management.  Especially the later - I've been restocking for a final build of the current hardware version of the instrument, which leaves the company, and me, severely cash depleted, but with an inventory that will sustain both of us for very roughly three years.  I should be in pretty good shape to devote much more time to the aircraft shortly, so as to take full advantage of the warm season.  And if Hypatia sales at least hold and the stock market doesn't crash again, I'll have a bit of cash later to fund, in priority sequence, the landing gear pillar construction, purchase of a welding rig for the wings and tail, and a climate control heat pump.  This will take some time of course - that kind of money doesn't flow into my coffers quickly.

This will provide a limited opportunity window for aircraft work.  When about two thirds of Hypatia's components stock is depleted, I'll have to focus my attention on the design of version 5 hardware, and subsequent stocking of its components, and that will be a significant and all consuming exercise that could take as much as a year and significant funds to complete.  It's never easy...
